MYGEM STREAMING — COMPLETE TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

MYGEM Streaming Troubleshooting Guide

Buffering • Freezing • Blue Circle • App Not Opening • Login Problems • Maintenance • ISP Blocking • VPN Issues

If your service is buffering, stopping every few minutes, showing a spinning blue circle, failing to connect, or the app will not open, please complete this guide from beginning to end before contacting support.

Many streaming problems are caused by the device, Wi-Fi, router, ISP security/filtering, DNS routing, VPN connection, or the application itself. Reinstalling the app or resetting your password repeatedly will not fix an internet-routing or device problem.

1. Check for Maintenance First

Before changing anything, check whether MYGEM has announced scheduled maintenance or a known service issue.

  • If maintenance has been announced, please wait until it has been completed before troubleshooting your equipment.
  • If there is no reported service issue, continue with the steps below.

2. Restart Your Internet Properly

Do not simply turn Wi-Fi off and back on.

  1. Completely unplug your modem/router from power.
  2. Leave it unplugged for 5 full minutes.
  3. Plug it back in.
  4. Wait for your internet connection to fully restore.
  5. Restart your streaming device.
  6. Open the app and test again.

This can clear temporary routing, DNS, and network issues.

3. Test Without Your VPN First

If you already use a VPN:

  1. Disconnect the VPN completely.
  2. Restart the streaming application.
  3. Test several channels or streams.

If everything works normally without the VPN, your VPN connection or selected VPN server may be causing the problem.

If the problem continues, proceed to the next step.

4. Check Your Internet Provider's Security Settings

Some internet providers have security, parental-control, threat-protection, or web-filtering features that can interfere with certain connections.

A useful independent troubleshooting resource is:

Unblock.fyi ISP & VPN Troubleshooting Guide:
https://reference-url-citation.invalid/1

Select your internet provider and follow the instructions shown there.

Canada

Bell

Check the Bell Wi-Fi app/Home Hub for device restrictions, Access Control, or parental controls. Remove restrictions affecting your streaming device.

Rogers

Check the Rogers Ignite/Xfinity settings for parental controls, profiles, Advanced Security, or similar filtering. Temporarily disable the applicable filtering/security feature and test again.

Eastlink

If your connection uses eero, check:

Discover → Security & Privacy

Temporarily disable Advanced Security/Ad Blocking and check Profiles for filtering.

Primus

If using TP-Link Deco/HomeShield, check:

HomeShield → Parental Controls

Also check Network Security for Safe Search or ad-blocking settings.

United States

Spectrum

Go to:

My Spectrum → Services → Internet → Security Shield

Temporarily disable Security Shield and restart the router.

Xfinity / Comcast

Check the Xfinity app for Advanced Security and temporarily disable it for testing.

AT&T

Check Smart Home Manager/ActiveArmor and temporarily disable the applicable network-security feature.

Verizon Fios

Check Home Network Protection, Parental Controls, and Advanced Security in the My Fios app/router settings.

T-Mobile Home Internet

Check the T-Mobile Internet app for Advanced Cyber Security and Web Guard/content-filtering settings.

Caribbean

Flow

Check the My Flow app/portal:

Internet Settings → Web Filtering / Family Filter

Temporarily disable or opt out of the applicable filtering feature, restart the router, and test again.

Other Internet Providers

For other providers, look in your ISP application or router settings for options labelled:

  • Advanced Security
  • Web Protection
  • Threat Protection
  • Safe Browsing
  • Parental Controls
  • Web Filtering
  • Family Protection
  • Content Filtering

Important: Only disable a feature for troubleshooting if you understand what it does. You can turn it back on after testing.

5. Try a VPN

If restarting your network and checking ISP filtering does not resolve the problem, test with a VPN.

A VPN can sometimes provide a different network route when an ISP connection is filtering, throttling, or routing traffic poorly.

Important: Simply turning on a VPN does not guarantee a better connection.

VPN servers can become congested, and different locations can perform very differently. Try several locations rather than repeatedly testing the same server.

Locations worth testing include:

  • New York
  • Miami
  • Germany
  • Denmark
  • Sweden
  • Iceland

Test each location and keep whichever provides the most stable connection for you.

6. Using NordVPN, ExpressVPN, or Surfshark?

Some VPN applications include their own filtering/security functions. These can sometimes interfere even while the VPN itself is connected.

According to the troubleshooting instructions at Unblock.fyi:

  • NordVPN: Temporarily disable Threat Protection/Threat Protection Lite.
  • Surfshark: Temporarily disable CleanWeb.
  • ExpressVPN: Temporarily disable Threat Manager and applicable ad/tracker blocking.

Reconnect the VPN after making the change and test again.

7. MYGEM VPN

You are not required to use MYGEM VPN.

However, if your ISP/network requires a VPN, MYGEM has its own VPN service available rather than requiring customers to purchase a separate third-party service.

MYGEM VPN supports up to 10 simultaneous connections and allows users to switch among available server locations.

MYGEM VPN Official Website:

https://mygemvpn.com

MYGEM VPN Client Portal:

https://mygem.dev

Large commercial VPN providers can also experience heavily loaded servers. If one VPN location performs poorly, that does not automatically mean the streaming service is down. Try another VPN server or location.

Free VPNs are generally not recommended for sustained streaming because performance, bandwidth, and server availability can be limited.

8. Test Using Another Internet Connection

This is one of the easiest ways to identify a home-network or ISP problem.

Using Mobile Data

  1. Turn Wi-Fi OFF on your phone.
  2. Use your phone's mobile data.
  3. Open the compatible app and test your account.

Alternatively, connect your streaming device to your phone's hotspot temporarily.

If the service works using mobile data or a hotspot but does not work through your home internet, that is strong evidence that the problem is related to the home network, router, ISP routing/filtering, or configuration rather than your login credentials.

9. Reinstall the App

If your internet connection has been tested and the app itself is freezing, crashing, or refusing to open:

  1. Delete/uninstall the app.
  2. Restart the device.
  3. Reinstall the app.
  4. Enter your information again.
  5. Test before changing additional settings.

Important: Your login/M3U information is case-sensitive.

Enter it exactly as provided.

  • Do not add spaces.
  • Do not change uppercase/lowercase characters.
  • Do not modify the M3U URL.

10. Test With Startup Show

If you believe the problem is the application, you can test your account using Startup Show.

Use the same M3U URL previously provided to you.

The M3U URL is case-sensitive and must be entered exactly as provided.

If your account works in another compatible application, the original application's installation or device configuration may be the problem.

Firestick Users — Important

Firesticks are not a recommended MYGEM streaming device.

Although many customers may be able to use them, Firesticks can experience storage limitations, Amazon software restrictions, sideloading issues, and application-performance problems.

If you choose to use a Firestick, you may occasionally need to perform additional maintenance yourself.

Before Reinstalling Anything

  • Delete applications you no longer use.
  • Open Downloader and remove old APK/download files you no longer need.
  • Make sure the Firestick has adequate free storage.

Remove Startup Show / Apollo

Go to:

Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications

Select Startup Show or Apollo and choose:

Force Stop → Clear Cache → Clear Data → Uninstall

Then go to:

Settings → My Fire TV → Restart

Wait until the Firestick has completely restarted.

Developer Options

If Developer Options are required but not visible:

  1. Go to Settings → My Fire TV → About.
  2. Highlight your Fire TV device name.
  3. Press the OK/Middle button 7 times.

You should receive the message:

“You are now a developer.”

Return to Developer Options and allow installation through Downloader where required.

Install Startup Show

Install Downloader first.

Open Downloader and enter:

Downloader Code: 889340

Or:

apk.apg.ooo/sstv.apk

Install and open Startup Show.

Enter the M3U URL previously provided to you.

Remember: the URL is case-sensitive.

Install Apollo App

In Downloader enter:

299336

If necessary, use:

apk.apg.ooo/aptv.apk

Startup Show and Apollo use the same account information provided to you.

Enter your information exactly as provided.

iPhone / iPad

For iOS, you may download Playberry from the App Store and enter the same M3U URL previously provided.

Remember: The URL is case-sensitive.

Recommended Streaming Devices

For a better and more consistent experience, we recommend a dedicated Android/Google TV streaming device rather than a Firestick.

Recommended options include:

  • Google TV Streamer 4K
  • NVIDIA Shield TV Pro
  • Xiaomi 4K Android TV Box

A good-quality device does not guarantee perfect streaming. Your internet connection and network route still matter, but a suitable device can eliminate many storage and device-related problems commonly encountered with lower-capacity streaming hardware.

Before Contacting Support

Please complete these steps first:

  1. Check for announced maintenance.
  2. Unplug the modem/router for 5 minutes.
  3. Restart your streaming device.
  4. Test with VPN OFF.
  5. Check your ISP's security/filtering settings.
  6. Test using mobile data or a phone hotspot.
  7. Reinstall the application if necessary.
  8. Test your login in Startup Show or another compatible app.
  9. If necessary, test several VPN server locations.
  10. If using a Firestick, complete the Firestick maintenance steps above.

If the account/login has already been tested by support and confirmed working, repeatedly resetting the password or reinstalling the application will not resolve an ISP, Wi-Fi, VPN, router, or device problem.
